Best Pepper Spray

The Best Pepper Spray To Use Is Based On Your Experience and Situation. Since peppersprays are used widely used by men and women of all ages, law enforcement, as well as United States postal workers, there are a variety of sizes, intensities and types available.

Best Heat Gun

WHAT IS PEPPER SPRAY? It is a derivative of the peppers such as cayenne and other hot peppers. Once extracted and made into a spray, it can be used as an effective deterrent in potentially dangerous situations. Pepperspray causes an immediate burning sensation in the skin, eyes and mucous membranes

Best Heat Gun

While there will always be controversy concerning any type of self-defense, these sprays are completely legal, have no proven long-term negative effects and is non-lethal. Self defense spray and tear gas are entirely different products, one an irritant (tear gas), the other an inflammatory agent (oleoresin capsicum spray), and while they may have common uses, they should not be confused.

Pepper spray comes in a variety of types, concentrations, and methods of deployment with different manufacturers (Fox labs, Police Magnum, Security Plus, Sabre Red and SpitFire) each giving there own slant to an already effective product.

Depending on your needs, defense sprays can be purchased in almost any style, shape and price range, with 1/2 ounce keychain models, others disguised as lipstick, but most commonly found in 4 to 9 oz. bottles worn on a small holster on your waist.

PEPPERSPRAY CAN BE DISGUISED: Certain models of self defense sprays can be disguised (hidden) inside a ring, lipstick, pen or cell phone. While you may pay more for a disguised canister, it is a low cost pay for your peace of mind.

They will range in size from a small 1/2 ounce size, up to 1 pound (normally used in riot control) or those venturing into bear country. An important consideration is the range (with 6 to 8 foot being effective) and number of shot (sprays) contained.

PEPPER SPRAY FACT: Most peppersprays are classified by the number of one second bursts, with a one to two second burst disabling most assailants.

The method of spray delivery will depend on your circumstances, with the following methods being offered...

STEADY and BROKEN STREAM as the name implies shoots a steady or broken stream directly into the face of assailant. This is probably the easiest to aim and most widely used defense spray.

FOAM provides the most protection against the blowback (getting the pepper spray on yourself), and is excellent in windy situations. This foam approximates the consistency of shaving cream but is filled with hot pepper.

FOGGER is excellent for when dealing with multiple attackers, crowd control, packs of dogs, and to keep for protection in your home. The disadvantage of a fogger is the likelihood of some blowback occuring.

FORCED CONE is a recent variation and produces a fine mist but forceful pattern, reaching distances of up to 12 feet. The mist is comprised of very fine droplets minimizing blowback and maximizing your defenses possibilities.

PEPPER SPRAY EFFECTIVENESS: Oleoresin Capsicum spray is rated in two ways; the percentage of OC and SHU, OC (Oleoresin Capsicum) is the inflammatory agent in pepper spray, while SHU (Scoville Heat Units) measure the amount of capsaicin (the active component of chili peppers). When comparing one brand against another, the one with the higher SHU is normally more effective.

Self Defense Sprays, whether made with capsaicin or tear gas, were created to help control difficult situations and this remains where it is most effective. It is not designed to stop a bullet or fend off a knife, rather to provide the opportunity to escape a bad situation and seek help.

Dove Hunting - Tips on Getting Started

A step by step guide to get you in the field!

Best Heat Gun

Dove Hunting is a great sport for all ages. Whether you are 12 or 50, it can be rewarding. I started at age 17 and haven't missed an opening day since. As the summer begins, my heart and mind always go to September 1st (opening day North and Central Zones in Texas). Every year my dad, brother and I have a competition, called 'The Top Gun', and whoever kills the most birds gets their name on the Top Gun plaque for the year. (Dad wins every year) I've started my two oldest sons out and this year they are in the competition too. I'm looking forward to many years of time with them With all that said, if you would like to try it out I have some practical things for you to do to make getting started easy.

Best Heat Gun

Getting started falls into two basic categories:

What to purchase?
What to do?

What to Purchase

I know, you are thinking this is going to be expensive. It can be (if you have the money), if not, you can start out on a shoestring budget, like me. There are many items that make dove hunting more comfortable but they are not necessary to begin hunting. I'll begin with the bare necessities.

A Shotgun
I don't think there is any way around this one, unless you are real good with a sling shot. There are many options when it come to a shotgun. The basic categories are; pump action, auto-matic, and over and under. All three have there advantages and disadvantages. The other things involved in purchasing a shotgun are , what gauge and what brand.

A pump action shot gun is the least expensive type of shotgun. Pumps can be purchased for around 0. Winchester and Remington have decent entry level pump shotguns. A pump simply means that the discharging and reloading of shells is done by pumping the gun backwards and then forward. Contrary to popular belief, this can be done very quickly and all have shot a lot of birds with a pump. A pump's advantages are it is a great starter gun and the cost will keep some money in the bank if you are on a budget.

An automatic shotgun is an upgrade from a pump. An automatic shotgun ejects the spent shell and reloads the chamber automatically (hints why it's called an automatic). Both the pump and automatic hold three shells(with the plug in). For a beginner and even for me (as I shoot an automatic), the third shot can be a life saver. Automatic shotguns can be pricey though. I shoot a Remington 1170 (left handed ) and it cost around 0. the price range is from 0 and up. I've never had any problems with my gun but some critics of them say they over heat and run out of gas if you do an awful amount of shooting. I recommend automatic's unless you are going to Argentina or something.

Over and Under shotguns are probably the most popular in the target shooting world and a lot of bird hunter use the. They have two barrels one on top of the other. they are know for their accuracy and reliability. Both my brother and my dad shoot them. They are the most expensive starting at around 0 and going up from there. If you've got the cash, you can't go wrong buying one.

Gauges: When buying a shotgun, size does matter. The smaller the number the larger the shell. 12 gauge is the most common and then 20 gauge being the next. Although there a many different gauges all you need to know is the bigger the gauge the more it kicks. Don't get to excited none of them really hurt unless you shoot 500 then you might be a little sore. I recommend 12 gauge for adult males and 20 ga. for adult women and kids over 13. For youngsters, I recommend .410 gauge.

Brands: I've had good luck with Remington and Winchester. Both are low to medium price range. Mossberg also makes entry level shotguns, but my brother had all kinds of problems with his first pump, in a short period of time I might add. Benelli an Beretta are also good brands, but in the medium to high price range.

The bottom line is you have to have a gun, so decide on your budget and make a purchase that will last a life time. Let's keep a running total....

1-pump-action gun = 0

2. A place to hunt

I'd say this is a necessity. Here again, this depends on your bank account. There are several ways to hunt without paying ant outrageous amount of money. In Texas, they have public land and for around one can access thousands of acres. The trick is finding a spot with birds. There are also day hunts for around 0 per day, and even some leases for around 0 per season (usually these suck). If you've got the money, look for some established leases in the newspapers. They can range anywhere from 0 to 00 per gun. Again, a gun is no good if you don't have a place to shoot it (preferably with birds on it or flying by).

1-pump shotgun @ 0, 1- public land permit @

3. Hunting license

I don't think this needs too much elaboration. Depending on your state, should be around .

1-pump shotgun @ 0, 1- public land permit @ , 1- hunting license @ ,

4.Accessories:

You can really go crazy here if you want, but there are a few 'must haves'.

Shells. I could write a novel on this, but to start just buy some 8 shot dove load. Buy a case (10 boxes), should be around .
Bird/bullet bag.Probably a three pouch camo, .
Chair. Get a comfortable one. They are cheap max.
Camo clothing. Depending on your climate, you'll need pants and a shirt. The more pockets the better. You might want to buy some boots too. We'll say 0.
Other accessories you might want to get could be a water bottle (camo, of course), flashlight, hunting vest, a new cooler (to put all your birds you kill in), camo hat, and polarized sunglasses. For now i won't figure these into cost.
1-pump shotgun @ 0, 1- public land permit @ , 1- hunting license @ , 1-set of accessories @ 5.

That's it! The grand total to get you into business is around 0. It sounds like a lot, but if you don't wait until the last minute you can budget it in over time.

In the next article, I'll cover what to do to get started dove hunting.

I'll cover that after I RELOAD!

Rear Bumper Protection

The Fatboy Liberty Safe

When I hear the words "Fat Boy", the first thing I think of is the Fat Boy Harley Davidson motorcycle. The next thing that comes to mind is Fat Boy ice cream sandwiches. A little research online also revealed the new alternative to the original bean bag which was developed in 1998 is called a Fat Boy. A little more looking around revealed a British DJ with the stage name of Fatboy Slim. And of course, a British movie that I enjoyed, Run Fat Boy Run. As in most of these examples, the term Fat Boy is used to denote something that is bigger than normal. And so it is with the Liberty Safe FATBOY.

Best Heat Gun

The FATBOY safe is huge! Liberty safe advertises it to be one of the "largest, toughest security vaults built in America". Let's take a look at these two claims.

Best Heat Gun

As for being the largest, this bad boy is 42" wide and 30.5" deep, which is about 6" wider and 3" deeper than most full size safes. This means that if you want the safe to only hold guns, the FATBOY will hold a whopping 64 long guns - which is great if you are a collector. But if you're not, you can then get the interior with a gun rack on one side and shelves on the other.

Besides being large, Liberty safe claims that the FATBOY is one of the toughest security vaults on the market. So what makes it so tough? First, it has 12 locking bolts, and the bolts are 25% larger in circumference and 33% longer than those normally used. It also uses triple hardened steel plates to protect the lock from drill attack and has an over-center cam device that makes side punching the lock next to impossible.

Toughness not only means superior protection again burglary, but also against fire. For this increased fire protection, Liberty started by using a thicker 11-gauge steel (also increases security), then they used more fire board than is typically found in competitors comparable safes. In the ceiling, doorjambs and the door, Liberty uses three layers of 5/8" fire board and 2 layers in all of the walls of the FATBOY. Plus, it comes with a superior heat activated door seal to help seal out both the heat and the smoke. The safe has an 83,000 BTU rating and will withstand a 1200 - 1400Ës F fire (which is hot!) for up to 60 minutes.

Perhaps, like other things in life, you really like the FATBOY, but you just don't need something that is that much bigger than normal, then you can choose the FATBOY jr. Just like the daddy version, but everything scaled down. It is just as wide as the FATBOY, but not as deep, allowing it to hold up to 48 long guns. It has less bolts (nine instead of 12), and a lower fire rating (62,000 BTU's, and 30 minutes of protection instead of 60), though it still has more fire board than the competition. Overall, another excellent Liberty safe.

So, what would work best for you? Well, only you can determine that, but before deciding, take a look at what you have to protect and the degree of protection needed. Then choose the Liberty safe that best suits your needs.

Check Your Fireplace

The outside temperatures have dropped. It's time to check your fireplace.

Best Heat Gun

Thanksgiving has come and gone, and Christmas is just around the corner. Have you checked your fireplace?

Best Heat Gun

Homeowners are starting to order cords of wood, and getting their fireplaces ready for a fire. Some owners are even checking chimneys for bird nests.

A beautifully lit fire in the fireplace can add so much to your living area. But in order to have a safe fire, chimney maintenance is important.

At least once a year, you should have your chimney checked and cleaned if necessary, by a chimney professional. If you heat with wood, or if special circumstances of your chimney system warrant it, it may be wise to have the chimney checked more frequently.

"The best time to have your chimney checked is every year before the burning season," says Chris Sparks, sales manager of The Mad Hatter, a chimney cleaning company.

Although we are well into the burning season, if you haven't maintained your chimney, it's a good idea not to wait. A chimney fire can easily destroy a house.

Chimney fires are serious. A hot, destructive chimney fire sounds like a freight train running through the house, and it's not uncommon to see 30-foot flames shooting from the chimney top. If there is a chimney fire, get everyone out of the house and call the fire department.

You can avoid a chimney fire by learning to operate your fireplace correctly, and routinely cleaning your chimney. Many times what causes the fire is creosote. Creosote deposits are created from unburned, flammable tar vapors from wood smoke. They are often sticky or hard, and difficult to remove from chimneys. Long, slow burns, or the use of green or wet wood can create these dangerous creosote deposits.

Fire building seems simple, but it's not like lighting a campfire or firing up the barbecue. Even the most skilled pyrotechnic wizard runs the risk of a major flop by trying to light a fire in a fireplace without knowing about the appliances and the correct way to use them.

A good fire requires not only a functional appliance, but also a good fuel. For the best results, use seasoned firewood - wood that has been stored covered for the better part of a year. Season your wood under cover, but with good airflow.

Unseasoned or green wood has too high a moisture content, and doesn't burn well. Hardwoods, like oak, tend to be better than softwoods, like pine, since hardwoods have a BTU content, and will give a longer burn time and better performance. (A BTU is a "British Thermal Unit," the amount of heat required to raise the temperature of one pound of water one degree Fahrenheit).

Believe it or not, super-dry wood - like that pile that's been out in the shed for decades - isn't good firewood. This type of wood will burn fast and furious, and it might throw a lot of sparks.

Do not burn anything other than seasoned firewood. Burning treated lumber, painted wood, trash, and such, releases toxic chemicals into the atmosphere (including your home). So recycle your pizza boxes and plastic wrap, and do yourself and our environment a favor.

Newspaper is great for starting a fire, but it's not a replacement for firewood. Use just enough to start the fire, and recycle the rest. Don't use sections with color print, as it contains chemicals that are unsafe to burn. Use the plain, black-and-white parts.

Now put down a layer of crumpled newspapers, snug, but not crammed tightly together. You want space for air to get in, or you'll have a smoldering pile of papers. Put the papers under the grate.

Next, put down a couple of handfuls of small, dry kindling: twigs and small branches are fine, or small splits of wood. Crisscross them in a few layers, to allow air circulation. Don't be stingy with the kindling. It's the key to a one-start fire. Then add a few larger splits, and top it off with a couple of small logs. That's it. Your fire is ready. Before striking the match make sure your damper is open. You may also need to preheat the flue.

The purpose of a fireplace is to provide warmth, comfort and atmosphere. Knowing how to take care of your fireplace can bring you these desired effects, instead of those undesirables, such smoke, foul odors and house fires. It's all part of taking care of your home.

  • Includes 4 specialty nozzles for added versatility and effectiveness (see description)

Cyber Monday Heat Gun - 1500W - 4 Nozzles - 700F to 920F Overview

An electric heat gun is an easy to operate power tool with so many practical, time-saving functions that we consider it to be an essential tool for every homeowner and professional workbench. For example, most glue, adhesive, sealant & caulk used commercially today are actually thermosetting polymers that lose their bonding properties when reheated to a relatively-low melting point. That's why a blast from a heat gun is one of the easiest and most effective methods for quick removal of labels, stickers, etc. that otherwise involve very tedious effort (use caution when removing such from thermoplastic material that may have a melting point only slightly higher than the adhesive). Four-piece nozzle set includes: reduction nozzle concentrates output to more-powerful, focused heat blast; deflector nozzle allows diffused, less-intense application; flat spreader produces 3"-wide air flow over larger area and hood nozzle reduces flow to one side for less blow-back. Gun body color may vary from item pictured.

In a busy world where everything revolves around industry, one of the most essential materials, at the same time most taken for granted, is metal.

Metal is found and used everywhere from the common household and carpentry work, to the highly technical and industrial workplace such as construction sites and factories. Metal is also an important material in the medical field. And as much as metal is important to have in our busy world, the one who wields and molds it is just as important. No one can wield metal better than a blacksmith.

A blacksmith is someone who manufactures items that are derived from iron. Sometimes, to make metals even more durable, a blacksmith is also responsible for forging them together to form steel. Forging is a process done by a blacksmith to mold, bend and shape metals by using instruments and tools such as hammers and anvils. They produce objects such as wrought iron gates, railings, light fixtures and tools that we use in our daily living. They are also capable of making weapons that are primarily made of iron such as guns.

Black smiths work through iron and steel by heating these metals until they are malleable enough to be molded using simple hand tools like the hammers, chisels, and anvils. The process of blazing these metals in heat is done by using a forge fed by organic materials such as natural gases, propane and charcoal.
Blacksmiths today may also utilize oxyacetylene which is similar to a blowtorch for a more precise heating. During the heating period, the color of the metal is a very vital indication of the metal's temperature and workability. For example, iron being blazed through fire will glow red at first, then turns to orange or yellow, then eventually to white when the heat reaches its peak. That is when the iron melts.

The best heat indicator for most forging is the bright yellow-orange color which is known as the forging heat. In order for blacksmiths to determine the glow of metal when it heats up, they must work in a dim-lighted environment.

When the iron ore is being merged into a usable piece of metal, there are certain amounts of carbon alloyed along with the iron. The levels of carbon can greatly affect the attributes of the metal the blacksmith is working on. If the levels of carbon exceeds 2%, it can have a low melting point and is easily cast, hence the name, cast iron. However, because of the brittleness it has, it's not used for blacksmithing. If the levels of carbon is between 0.25% and 2%, the end product would be steel which is conducive for heat treatment. And if the carbon content falls under below 0.25%, the result of it will be mild steel which is easily malleable
The methods for smithing are categorized into forging, welding, treatment using heat, and finishing.

Forging is done through shaping the metal by the use of a hammer whereas welding is the process of fusing metals of the same kind. They accomplish this by forge welding and by using oxacetylene and arc welding.
Heat treatment is simply immersing the metal in fire until it becomes conducive for molding. Finishing is done through polishing to smoothen uneven metal surfaces in order for the finished product to have that furnished look and quality.

Blacksmiths also face some dangers in the workplace. Most of the time, they are faced with fire and scalding is a common issue. Spark of metal flying around can affect the eyes and repetitive strain injuries are also common. Moreover, there are also hidden dangers such as heavy metal poisonings and heat exhaustion during the summer seasons.

So when you eat using a fork or drive nails by pounding them through the use of a hammer, think of the sacrifices of a blacksmith and how they make your life a bit easier.
